Ammolite is one of Europe’s most renowned fine dining restaurants and has been awarded two Michelin stars. Together with the Ammolite team and Europa-Park, we developed a new brand identity that reflects the restaurant’s precision, creativity and uncompromising pursuit of excellence.
Guided by the concept of House of Light, we created a holistic brand framework that extends far beyond traditional restaurant branding. From strategic positioning and visual identity to digital applications and spatial and sensory experiences, every touchpoint was conceived as part of a carefully curated guest journey.
Orientation, focus and the ability to reveal the extraordinary form the foundation of House of Light – the conceptual core of Ammolite’s new identity. Inspired by the spiral geometry of the ammonite, the restaurant is positioned as a place of discovery. Just as perspectives shift and unfold over time, the dining experience reveals itself layer by layer, expressing the depth, refinement and complexity of the cuisine.
Together with architect Ralf Rauer, we also developed the architectural staging of the entrance area, creating an arrival experience that immerses guests in the world of Ammolite before they even step inside.
The result is a distinctive brand universe where space, atmosphere and gastronomy merge into a seamless whole — sensual, precise and defined by craftsmanship at the highest level.

FAQ
Who developed the branding for the Ammolite restaurant?
The brand identity for Ammolite was developed by distylerie, a branding agency in Zurich. Together with the Ammolite team and Europa-Park, we created a new identity that reflects the restaurant’s precision, creativity and uncompromising pursuit of excellence. Ammolite is one of Europe’s most renowned fine dining restaurants and has been awarded two Michelin stars.
What is restaurant or hospitality branding?
Restaurant branding makes the character of a culinary destination tangible – from positioning and visual identity to spatial and sensory staging. It goes far beyond a logo and shapes the entire guest journey. For Ammolite, distylerie developed a holistic brand framework that treats every touchpoint as part of a carefully curated guest experience.
What services did distylerie deliver for Ammolite?
We delivered brand strategy, brand identity, branded space and interior design – guided by the concept of “House of Light.” We shaped the strategic positioning, the visual identity, digital applications and spatial and sensory experiences. The architectural staging of the entrance area was developed together with architect Ralf Rauer.
What does the “House of Light” concept mean?
“House of Light” is the conceptual core of Ammolite’s new identity, standing for orientation, focus and the ability to reveal the extraordinary. Inspired by the spiral geometry of the ammonite, which reveals colours and reflections in ever-shifting facets, the restaurant is positioned as a place of discovery. Just as perspectives shift over time, the dining experience reveals itself layer by layer.
What is branded space in a hospitality context?
Branded space translates a brand identity into the physical environment, so that atmosphere, architecture and brand become one. In hospitality, this space largely defines the guest experience. For Ammolite, distylerie – together with architect Ralf Rauer – shaped, among other elements, the staging of the entrance area as an arrival moment that immerses guests in the restaurant’s world before they even step inside.
What is a brand strategy and why does a restaurant need one?
A brand strategy defines what a brand stands for, who it speaks to and how it differentiates itself. It is the foundation of any consistent design – including in fine dining. For Ammolite, the strategic positioning was the basis on which the visual identity, digital applications and spatial staging came together as a coherent whole.
Does distylerie also work in interior and architecture?
distylerie thinks about brands holistically – beyond the visual and into space. For Ammolite, the project included brand strategy and brand identity as well as branded space and interior design. The architectural staging of the entrance area was created in collaboration with architect Ralf Rauer, so that space, atmosphere and cuisine merge seamlessly.
